A Current of History-in-the-Making
1000 Threads is a platform for visual storytelling. Whether personal or global, educational hybrid, or an offering for posterity — here is where stories come to life and find a shared audience.
In 2005, 1000 Threads was officially launched with the film “Kurt Stoeckel, Artist.” The film premiered at the de Young Museum alongside Kurt’s artist-in-residence assignment there. A passionate supporter of artists and the Arts, founder Audrey Daniel envisioned a production company that would create visual stories to help the public understand and embrace an artist’s vision.
Since 2005, 1000 Threads has produced 10 films whose stories have explored the lives, philosophies, and work of visual and performing artists.

1000 Thread Films is dedicated to creating documentary films that document the creative lives of artists and the communities that shape them. We believe that visual storytelling is one of the most powerful tools for preserving cultural memory, fostering empathy across generations, and amplifying the voices of those who are reshaping how we understand our history.
From grassroots monuments to renaissance visionaries, we seek out the stories that — once told — become woven permanently into the fabric of our cultural heritage.
